Working from home continues…
Many apologies for the holiday delay; it’s been crazy around here. I’ve been working from home handling 5+ hospitals and finding it to be the perfect job for me. I DO miss office talk at times, freshly made coffee, ice machines with the perfect size ice cubes (or tubules as I like to joke about), and the parking lot walk TO the office. These days all of this is me rolling out of bed an hour before log on, making a pot of coffee, and eating some cereal. Most days I shower, and if I don’t prior to log on, I’ll do it after. Wow. Who would have thought. Makeup isn’t needed. Hair in a ponytail. And during downtimes, you can do something else. Like: watch TV, read the news on foxnews.com, or phone a friend.
I did see a funny last name this past week. Are you ready for this one? HERPY. I kid you not. Seems like an adjective to describe a sore on one’s lip… “Hey, that looks HERPY!”
Just in case I didn’t answer an earlier comment about Effexor and brain zaps on an earlier post… would I take it again. Knowing what I know now, I would take Wellbutrin XL, but had no issues with Effexor negatively UNTIL I WITHDREW. Withdrawing was a true bitch, but doable and bearable if you can stand the uncomfortableness.

just wondering…. all are the hospitals you enter orders for in a “system” together and you are hired by just one entity or do you contract to each hospital? Do they set you up with any way to talk to nurses (cell phone/pager etc) to have them clarify funky orders or do in-house pharmacists do that? Do you do shift work or after hours work (when the pharmacy is closed)? Do you ever get called in to the hospital to dispense? I know, a lot of questions…. you could shoot me an email if you want. I work as a hospital pharmacist in a small hospital and have to do after-hours order review/entry and am just wondering how other places do it. Thx, RxMomma
I am wondering how you found out about this opportunity; it seems like a perfect fit for me also. I have workder with so many recruiters in the past-most told me about the “great position” in my town which happened to be the posting for the job I just left! Argh, or the same deep night positions that are posted for every large hospital in my metro area for 6 months every year as the pharmacist always quits after the year sign up bonus commitment is up. Email me if you wantI am really interested in working form home. Thanks, Blonde Pharmacist.
Hi there! I am working from home full-time as well. I really understand your comment about missing the coffee machine banter. Me too. In fact, I think that the lack of direct contact with people is the worst thing about it - but I get a lot fewer colds, now!
disgruntledrph - I’m lucky that my former office really wanted to keep me and I was relocating - otherwise I don’t know how a person would find these types of positions. Trust seems to be a big factor - their trust that you’ll be productive outside of an office environment. At least - that’s been my experience.
Hi! Can you tell me more about your work from home?? I am struggling to work full-time in a retail pharmacy while having two young boys ages 1 and 5. I would LOVE the opportunity to stay with them instead of going to work for 10 hours every day, but my we can’t really afford a $100,000 pay cut right now with paying on student loans! I would appreciate any info you can give me!
Yes, very interested in working from home!! I am very interested in any suggestions. I’ve googled about every way I can think of and applied to all sorts of medical writer, PBM, industry type positions I can find with no luck yet. I’m desparate to spend more time with my LO.
